Don’t expect goals rain, says Enyeama

Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama

Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has said Nigerians should not expect goals rain when the national team play Namibia’s Brave Warriors in a 2014 World Cup qualifier at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar, on Sunday.
The Eagles need three points against the Brave Warriors on Sunday to brighten their chances of taking part in the 2014 World Cup, scheduled for Brazil.
The Lille of France goalkeeper also complained of the ‘harsh’ weather in Calabar, expressing hope that the situation would be tolerable on Sunday.
Enyeama, however, said Nigeria had better chances against Namibia, saying the players would put in their best.
“The chances of winning are 60 to 40 in our favour because we are playing at home and they are playing away,” he said.

Natural Skin Care Products from the Kitchen Homemade Creams that Nourish, Protect, Treat and Invigorate Dry Skin

Skin absorbs what it comes in contact with so providing it with nourishing, natural ingredients from homemade creams, rich in vitamins and antioxidants gives it new life.
Most of the skin care products that many Americans use in daily, consist of a wealth of chemicals. According to Planet Green at Discovery.com, human skin is not a barrier; it absorbs these products into the body so, "we absorb the nearly 130 chemicals we regularly expose ourselves to." They also go on to say that, "More than 1,110 personal-product ingredients have been banned for use in cosmetics in the European Union because of concerns that they may cause cancer, birth defects, or reproductive ills. By contrast only 10 are banned here in the U.S."
That is not to say that the products that are used for skin care in the United States are cancer-causing or harmful, many are considered safe, but they have not undergone extensive testing to be sure what the long term effects might be or if there is any danger with prolonged exposure to these products. Some people feel that use of these kinds of products should be limited and natural products should be substituted, even if it is just to err on the side of caution.

Quadruplets: One dies, father renews appeal for help

The quadruplets

One of the quadruplets born to Mr. Samuel and Joy Chukwukaelo at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital on Thursday has died.
The Chief Medical Director, UITH, Prof. AbdulWaheed Olatinwo, in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Tuesday said one of them died on Sunday. He added that the baby was the one that weighed about 900mg at birth.
But he said the other three were quite stable, adding that the hospital was giving them necessary attention and medicare.
“On Sunday we lost one them. That was very bad. The babies were premature. The one that weighed less than 900mg was the one that gave up. But the three others are quite stable,” Olatinwo said.
Joy, a teacher at Second ECWA Nursery and Primary School, Amilegbe, Ilorin, had said that the pregnancy of the quadruplets lasted 32 weeks.
Meanwhile, Chukwukaelo, the father of the quadruplets, said except for gifts received from the hospital’s workers, the family had yet to receive help.
Chukwukaelo, a petty traders, who have two children before the birth of the quadruplets, said he had however received some calls from people who promised to assist the family.
He appealed to the government, corporate organisations and individuals to help the family out of their financial predicament.
He also confirmed the death of one of the quadruplets.
Chukwukaelo said, “I am just a petty trader, selling electronics spare parts. I do not have the means to cope with the financial demands of the babies.
“I am sure there are kind-hearted Nigerians. I also believe that we have caring governments at federal, state and local government levels. I sincerely plead with them to assist me so that the babies will not die,” he said.

Akwa Ibom baby factory

ibom-baby-factory.jpg

Akwa Ibom State Police Commissioner, Mr. Umar Gwadabe, is barely a month old in the state but criminals appear to have started thinking of relocating. That, ironically, seems to be the mission of the new CP; to make the state extremely hot and uncomfortable for criminals and other mischief makers.  One of those, who have relocated, though on the run now, is an alleged fake medical doctor and proprietor of a baby factory at Ekpene Ukim,  in Uruan Local Government Area of the state, Mbaba (other names withheld) , whose compound was raided recently by the police.

The operation yielded dividends in form of young girls, who had allegedly been lured with monetary incentives by Mbaba and his wife, to get pregnant and sell the babies to them for them to later resell and make profit.

Gwadabe said three pregnant girls and four others  between the ages of 18 and 20 years “were rescued from the procreation factory and effort to arrest Mbaba and other members of the syndicate now at large is in top gear.”

But he said the police were, however, lucky to have arrested Mrs. Mbaba, who later admitted to newsmen that she and the husband, said to be a fake medical doctor, had been engaging in the “deliver and sell” business and that the last baby they sold yielded a profit of N70,000 to the young mother.

“We nurture young girls who appear not to have any help when they are pregnant till they give birth and we take the baby from them and pay them some money,” she said. The girl, Aniebet (other names withheld), who was equally arrested by the police, admitted to accepting the N70,000 the proprietors of the centre gave her after seizing her new born baby from her. She said she had actually gone there for abortion but was persuaded by Mrs. Mbaba to keep the pregnancy and rather make money from it; a piece of advice she heeded. She made the money but ended up in the police net.

According to her, it was after she had collected the money and got home that her sister enquired of the pregnancy and demanded to see the baby. Her failure to produce the baby compelled the sister to report her to the police, who swooped on the factory.

Gwadabe equally said within the short period that he had been in charge of the command, four persons, namely; Victor (other names withheld) from Oron, Bassey (other manes withheld) from Ibiono, Abasiama and Nse (other names withheld) were arrested for kidnapping all manner of people, including a four-year-old Rachael  Hezekiel Antai, who the police eventually rescued.

“In spite of these achievements, our determined commitment to protecting lives and property in the command remains unflagging. We will ensure that Akwa Ibom State is made extremely hot and uncomfortable for all criminals and mischief makers,” the commissioner promised. He, however, appealed to members of the public to promptly report all suspicious and strange acts to the police and other security agencies, asserting that security is a collective responsibility. He also advised parents and guardians to monitor the movement of their children and wards to prevent them from being used as objects of criminal experiments by hoodlums.

The new CP emphasised that the police would never engage in extra-judicial killing of suspected criminals because the law must be allowed to take its due course, just as he instructed his lieutenants to ensure that the police mobile unit dismantle the illegal roadblocks they still mount on some roads in Uyo.

“On my assumption of office on March 6, 2012, I proceeded to align myself with the Inspector General of Police’s policing strategies, which are designed toward intelligence-led proactive and people-oriented policing. In this regard, I embarked on a diligent appraisal of the laudable and commendable security structures established by my predecessor, with the full logistic support of Chief Godswill Akpabio, the executive governor of Akwa Ibom State.

“These worthy security strategies already on ground will be revitalised, strengthened and improved upon. Also, we have already started the repositioning and strengthening of our patrol systems toward the engineering of visible policing and complete domination of our security space.”

The CP said his command had already taken a look at its intelligence and information gathering mechanism with the sole aim of streamlining and revitalising it. “In the light of the above, it is heart-warming to note that the command has, within four weeks of my assumption of duty, recorded many significant and impressive breakthroughs, leading to the smashing of various kidnap and armed robbery syndicates, rescue of kidnap victims and arrest of kingpins of robbery/kidnapping gangs.”

Muslim hardliners halt Lady Gaga’s concert

images-36

Pop diva Lady Gaga on Sunday cancelled her Indonesian concert with promoters saying the security threat was too serious after Islamic hardliners promised “chaos” if she entered the Muslim nation.
The promoters had indicated that a deal was being hammered out to tone down the June 3 concert in Jakarta, but the US star’s management had stood firm, vowing there would be no compromise to appease religious conservatives.
“Lady Gaga’s management has considered the situation minute to minute, and with threats if the concert goes ahead, Lady Gaga’s side is calling off the concert,” Minola Sebayang, lawyer for promoters Big Daddy, told reporters.
“This is not only about Lady Gaga’s security, but extends to those who will be watching her.”
The flamboyant performer, who has nearly 25 million followers on Twitter — the highest number on the social networking site — wrote just hours before the announcement was made: “There is nothing Holy about hatred.”
After the announcement the show was off, thousands of her fans, who call themselves “little monsters”, sent a flurry of Twitter messages to persuade her to go ahead with the concert.
Earlier this month Jakarta police refused approval for the show after the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) threatened violence if Lady Gaga performed, calling her a “devil’s messenger” who wears only a “bra and panties”.
Big Daddy president director Michael Rusli said it was “unfortunate” that the show, part of Lady Gaga’s tour of Asia that drew protests from Christian groups in the Philippines and South Korea, had to be called off.
“For the past few days we have communicated with the government and Lady Gaga’s side. The government has given support, but this is not about the permit,” he said. “The cancellation is really due to concerns over security.”
More than 50,000 tickets had been sold for the event at the Bung Karno Stadium, but FPI Jakarta chairman Habib Salim Alatas said the cancellation was “good news” for Muslims in Indonesia.
“FPI is grateful that she has decided not to come. Indonesians will be protected from sin brought about by this Mother Monster, the destroyer of morals,” he told AFP.
“Lady Gaga fans, stop complaining. Repent and stop worshipping the devil. Do you want your lives taken away by God as infidels?”
The FPI has about seven million followers and has been known to raid pubs and clubs.
Lady Gaga is scheduled to play three shows in Singapore this week. She was due to play in Jakarta after that, before flying to New Zealand and Australia, and then to Europe on her “Born This Way Ball” tour.
Indonesian fans had suggested that Big Daddy look for another venue outside the capital after Jakarta police refused to give approval, but Rusli said “this is a huge concert so it can’t be moved elsewhere”.
“Nowhere else in Indonesia can accommodate that many people”, he said, insisting that the 26-year-old singer was “prepared to adapt to Asian culture”.
The star’s manager Troy Carter said in Singapore on Thursday that Lady Gaga would not tone down her concerts.
Disappointed student Agus Murdadi, 17, said he had been waiting for months to see his idol.
“I’m shocked. She’s creative, not provocative. I bought a ticket because I want to see her dancing and singing Judas in front of me,” he told AFP.
“I’m going to tweet to her to tell her that she should just come and not worry. The police can take care of FPI. I hate the FPI.”
Another fan, Muh Fadli Firdaus, tweeted on @FadliGermanotta: “Sorry for everything, we still love you.”
Ninety percent of Indonesia’s 240 million people identify themselves as Muslim, making it the world’s largest Islamic-majority nation.
In the past, pop stars including Beyonce and The Pussycat Dolls have been allowed to perform in the country on condition they wore more conservative dress than usual.

Yvonne Nelson and Chris Attoh in SECRET WEDDING (Photos)

Not long ago, GH hosted a secret celeb wedding between Eugene Baah of Praye fame (choirmaster) and actress Bevelyne Afaglo sent tongue wagging in the showbiz industry. Just last week, we were honoured with an invitation to witness another secret wedding ceremony of Chris Attoh and elegant Yvonne Nelson at the Aburi gardens. Indeed, the set up and props could change the mindset of even a catholic priest to have a spectacular wedding as such.
Nadia Buari, Eddie Watson, Anita Erskine, Tana from Nollywood and fame director Pascal Amafo were some of the celebrities that were presents at the colourful wedding ceremony. And for the very first time, the bride arrived on time, gracing the occasion with the bridal keyboard tunes in an immaculate dress. Paparazzi were also alert as Yvonne walks to her will-be husband and took her seat besides him.

One couldn’t have believed that the occasion was actually a scene in a movieas invitations were given to the biological parents of the various actors, making the whole thing look real. As we were getting soaked in the matrimonial ceremony, songstress Efya stormed onto the set and ruined the ceremony with what seemed like a real day norm until we heard “Cut” from Pascal Amafo. Indeed, every musician is an actor; as Efya took it on as if she’s being acting all her life.
