25 WEDDING SUPERSTITIONS(WHAT NOT TO BELIEVE)

There seem to be more superstitions attached to a wedding than any other event in life. Here are 25 from all time.

1.       Even if a bride is a fantastic cook, she should not make her own wedding cake. Doing so is said to commit her to working hard for the rest of her life.
2.       Unless the bride cuts the first slice of the wedding cake, the happy couple is likely to be childless.
3.       The modern-day tradition for the bride and groom to cut the wedding cake jointly is an announcement by the couple that they intend to share all the possessions.
4.       The modern custom that has the bride feed the first bit of cake to her husband means that she is symbolically offering herself completely to him.
5.       Should any guest at a wedding refuse a piece of the wedding cake it will mean bad luck not only for them but also for the bride and groom.
6.       A piece of wedding cake placed under her pillow by a single girl will produce for dream of her future husband. Passing a fragment of wedding cake three or nine times through a wedding ring before sleeping on it can have even better results.
7.       To ensure that her husband remains forever faithful, a bride should keep a portion of her wedding cake. It was once the practice to keep a slice of cake, even a whole tier, until the christeni ng of the first child. The cake was then eaten at the ceremony.
8.       Sisters who marry on the same day or even in the same year are likely to be volunteering for unhappy marriages.
9.       A woman should avoid marrying in the church in which she was christened.

14.   A bridesmaid who stumbles on the way to the altar will never become a bride
15.   To have a matron of honour will bring better luck for a bride than a bridesmaid, as the matron of honour represents stability in marriage
16.   By reading the wedding ceremony right through before the big day, a bride risks bad luck that could mean her wedding won’t take place.
17.   A bride can ensure her happiness by feeding the pet cat before leaving for the church.
18.   If a cat sneezes on a wedding day it is a sure sign of a happy marriage.
19.   There are many bad omens for the bride making her way to the church, and superstitions also has it that the journey to the church, to a lesser extent than that of the bride, is strewn with hazards for the groom and guests.
20.   Rain at a wedding predicts that it will be a sad marriage, while a strong wind means the marriage will be a turbulent one.

23.   Often used as a gimmick in comedy films, the wedding car breaking down on the way to the church bodes no good for anyone involved in or connected to the marriage.
24.   Whether the happy couple is returning to a house or hotel after the ceremony, the groom should avoid bad luck by carrying his bride over both the threshold of the entrance to the building and the bedroom.
25.   Beware the days of May, the unluckiest month of the year for a wedding. This superstition dates back 2000 years to the Ancient Romans. Who saw May as the month of offering to the dead. It was customary to wear mourning clothes throughout that ill-omened month.
