@GIDI-TRAFFIC: SELFLESS SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE

@Gidi-traffic is a twitter handle that was created in September 2011 to ease traffic stress in the metropolitan city of Lagos and other traffic-clogged city. Gidi-traffic is handled by an individual who revealed himself 

earlier this year in an interview with BBC, "My name is Kaptin Idoko and I am Gidi Traffic," he told the BBC in New York. It started off with few followers, but today he can proudly count over 35,000 and still counting, Gidi-traffic updates tweets in real time saving people from getting caught up in traffic-clustered routes,avoiding areas of unrest and finding better routes.

Just barely clocking a year @Gidi-traffic can stand up tall and say he has been recognized home and abroad, earlier this year Nokia recognized his selfless service to commuters and partnered with him. 

 Last month in an interview with OMG Nigeria Gidi-traffic said "Gidi-traffic and Nokia are cooking some big things which everyone would see soon"  he went further to say how Gidi-traffic has positively affected the lives of people daily placing an example of a pregnamt woman in labour who couldn't get to the hospital due to the nationwide strike,she finally got help from a mid-wife via @Gidi-Traffic.

@Gidi-Traffic has bagged some nominations namely:

--The shorty awards New York, he was nominated alongside Fire dept of New York in the Life-saving hero category, in which he didn't win but as the first ever African to be nominated in that category is winning itself.

--Future awards 2012, best use of media category which he won

--Tush awards 2012, best use of social media category.(yet to be announced)

Gidi-traffic has been appreciated severally on twitter for his selfless service to commuters, he also gets nothing only traffic questions.
